Competitive/Rep Tryout Information
Our Competitive Program is designed for players who demonstrate a strong foundation in the game and are ready for a more challenging and structured soccer environment. These players typically show a natural enthusiasm for the game, an understanding of basic concepts, and the ability to perform fundamental skills such as passing, shooting, and ball control. Players may also demonstrate athletic ability, confidence, and a willingness to actively participate and compete.
Participation in the Competitive All-Star/Rep Program requires a significant commitment from both players and parents. Depending on the age group and season, teams may train between two and four times per week, in addition to regular league games, festivals, and tournaments. The financial commitment is also greater than our recreational Combo House League and Basic Development Skills & Drills Training programs.
Competitive teams train more frequently and involve additional costs and responsibilities, including team gear, travel, dedicated paid coaching staff, and team management. During the summer season, teams typically train three to four times per week, while winter programming generally includes up to two training sessions per week. Teams may also participate in weekly or bi-weekly league games or festivals, depending on the age group and competition.
Since 2009, Cherry Beach Soccer Club has steadily expanded its competitive programming across both boys' and girls' divisions. Our competitive program continues to grow, with an increasing number of teams competing at strong levels throughout Toronto and beyond. We are proud to have one of the largest contingents of competitive teams in Toronto, with many of our teams consistently achieving strong results.
All of our coaches are accredited through Ontario Soccer and are selected based on their knowledge of the game, coaching expertise, and ability to positively mentor and develop young players. Many of our coaches also bring extensive playing experience at the post-secondary and, in some cases, professional levels.
Our goal is to support each player throughout their individual soccer journey. For some, this means developing a lifelong enjoyment of the sport while participating through their youth years. Others may pursue opportunities at the post-secondary level, including athletic scholarships, or continue their development toward higher levels of competition. Whatever their goals may be, our coaches work to provide a positive, challenging, and development-focused environment.
Players interested in joining one of our competitive teams can begin by contacting the age-specific team contact via email. Once invited to attend an assessment or tryout, players will be evaluated by our coaching staff based on their technical ability, understanding of the game, athleticism, attitude, and overall potential within the team environment.
